Meet the Team
Mendy Grotheer, Dental Hygienist
One of the best parts about working with Mendy is that she’s just as passionate about dental hygiene today as when she started in this field 30+ years ago, after graduating with an Associate of Science degree in dental hygiene from Armstrong State College. Mendy often attends continuing education courses to stay up to date with the latest developments in dental hygiene to ensure she’s taking top-notch care of her loyal patients.
Her favorite time outside work is spent with her husband, Karl, and two children, Chloe and Eric. She also enjoys sewing, good jokes and great books.
Ariel Hirsch, Dental Hygienist
Ariel graduated from Savannah Technical College, where she earned her Associate of Science degree in dental hygiene. She loves being part of the Savannah Dental Family. At Savannah Dental, Ariel’s patients enjoy her kind and gentle demeanor.
Outside the practice, Ariel enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures with her husband, eating great food, and observing fine art. An outdoor enthusiast, she also enjoys gardening, snorkeling and bicycle riding. She is passionate about helping others and recycling.
Crystal Boaen, Dental Assistant
Crystal, a Savannah native, has enjoyed working in the dental field for many years. She loves getting to know each of her patients, providing the best care possible and working with a great team of people who are also passionate about what they do!
When she’s not taking care of patients, Crystal enjoys being outdoors doing anything from boating to gardening to raising chickens. Crystal also loves spending time with her friends, family and Yorkies.
Becky Miller, Dental Assistant
In addition to her extensive experience as a dental assistant, Becky has an uncanny ability to comfort patients during procedures (and everyone around her!) no matter the situation. Kind, calm, and collected, Becky is a strong positive force in the Savannah Dental office.
Outside the practice, Becky and her sister run their own monogramming business, Coastal Crafts and Monograms, where Becky monograms everything from baby apparel to tote bags.
Becky also loves spending time with her husband, two children and close group of friends.
Lar Algatt, New Patient and Treatment Coordinator
Formerly a dental hygienist and sales rep for a dental tech company, Lar has vast experience in the dental field. What she loves most about the industry is interacting with patients, and ours love her natural conversation skills and good sense of humor.
An interesting fact about Lar: She collects T-rex mementos – and owns everything from a T-rex cookie jar to a T-rex porch statue! She also loves gardening, kayaking and fishing. And, adoring her two grandchildren.
Elizabeth Glass, Insurance Specialist
Originally from Waycross, Georgia, Elizabeth has lived in the low country since 2014. She will greet you with her southern charm when you arrive at Savannah Dental. She is always happy to help lead you in the right direction with any insurance questions you may have.
When she is not at work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time outdoors; hunting and fishing are just a couple of her favorite things to do. Elizabeth also rescues animals and has four fur babies of her own that she rescued.
Nichole Barrali, Dental Consultant and Photographer
Not only does Nichole train new team members, she also offers support to the front office operations. A Tennessee native, Nichole moved to Savannah to attend SCAD, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts. As a professional portrait photographer, Nichole not only runs her own business, but also provides Savannah Dental with all of our website photos and patient portraits. Helping people smile is a special talent of hers. Outside of the office and photography, Nichole loves spending time her husband and fur babies. Just being outside in the sunshine makes her face light up.
Lexi Sweeney, Therapy Dog
A beloved member of our team, Lexi loves her job of greeting every person that walks through Savannah Dental’s doors, so be sure to say hello at the front desk each time you visit our office! Upon request, Lexi can even comfort you during your treatment!
When she’s not working, Lexi enjoys long walks and even longer naps. She can also be found playing with her many dolls and toys.
